Mostly Metal Challenge Reveal & Blog Hop!

Today is the reveal of the “Mostly Metal” Challenge hosted by Michelle Mach of Beads And Books.  Michelle is a jewelry designer and writer, and hosts several challengs throughout the year.  I was fortunate enough to grab a kit for the challenge,  and my category was “Gunmetal Love”.  It was indeed a challenge for me since I rarely use gunmetal.  Here is the kit that was sent to me:

Since I couldn’t think of what to make incorporating everything, I chose to make several pieces:

It’s amazing how we retain things we learned in childhood – I made the red cords into a keychain by using the macrame techniques that I learned long long ago.  I also used hematite beads to make heart earrings.  The swarovski crystals were made into dangle earrings, and the red ribbon roses (unique to my kit) were made into a hair barette.  Now, I just loved the pink pearlized vintage glass cabochon, so I got some Vintaj brass components and made it into a necklace:

And here is the list of participating artists to visit:

Oh, Michelle is hosting a giveaway to those who leave comments at her blog as well as all the other participating artist blogs.

I love, love LOVE what you did!

  4. Hey Linda. I think macrame is etching into our brains from childhood. LOve the keychain. Very clever use of the cab and looks great with the vintaj brass.

  5. WOW! I’m so impressed with all your projects! I love how you gave all the individual components special attention. I’d be hard-pressed to name a favorite–they’re all so wearable/usable as well as being pretty. Hematite and gunmetal are a great combination. And I love the barrette–I thought I’d be the only one to make hair jewelry! I really like how you used the cabochon. I never thought of wrapping it with filigree. It really does look nice with the Vintaj brass. Thanks for joining the challenge!

  6. Linda ~ I’m impressed that you didn’t allow a single component to go to waste! Although I love all of your pieces, I have to say that the earring designs are my favorites. Lovely!

  7. What a lovely set of pieces you made! I am especially fond of the earrings that use the crystals…so pretty and feminine. And the bee necklace is my other favorite 🙂

  8. I believe the dangly heart earings are my favorites!

  9. Really lovely pieces! The necklace is beautiful!

  10. They are all so beautiful. I think the barrett is my favorite right after the crystal earrings.

  11. I love all of them, but I think the necklace is my favorite-I love the way you brought in the pink cab.

  12. Wow! You used all the bits of your kit! Nicely done! I particularly am smitten with your necklace. It looks enchanted and like the focal cab is a magical bubble. Very nice!

  13. These all turned out just terrific. Well done. Love the way you featured the roses. 😉

  14. Stephanie LaRosa says:

I love how you made not only some stunning jewelry, but a hair piece and a keychain as well. I never would have thought of doing that, great job!

  15. You did a great job!

  16. OMGosh, you got a whole jewelry wardrobe out of your kit! I especially like the triangular earrings with leaf dangles. Lovely pieces!
