Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #37 Eyes

Well, I had meant to complete half of the 100 Themes Challenge by years end, but I seem to have gotten distracted with one thing or another.  So, I sat myself down, and did theme #37 Eyes:

I think Bette Davis has one of the most beautiful and rivetting eyes.  I actually colored them blue if you look up close.  And here are the credits:

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #94 Hope

This theme, “Hope” is the 25th out of 100 that I have done.  Since I started late, my goal is to finish at least 50 by the end of the year. So, I am half way there :-).  And here is my “Hope”:

Not quite sure where I was going with this…

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #4 Dark

When I saw this photo, I immediately thought of the word “Dark”:

This is  an x-ray photo of a cargo truck filled with human beings.  So many thoughts, emotions and feelings went through my mind.  I could only imagine the darkness of their situation.

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #91 Drowning

Drowning could be construed as drowning in debt, drowning in sorrow, drowning in love, etc., or literally drowning in water.  I thought  I would reverse things a bit for this theme:

A fish drowning in open air. I am not too pleased with this, but I couldn’t think of anything better at the moment.

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #23 Hunted

The theme “Hunted” could mean a lot of things.  I decided to use good old “Red” for this challenge:

I used cute vintage book graphics of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf to keep this theme upbeat and light.  The creepy background adds a bit of contrast.  I also gave Red a guiding light so she knows she will be alright :-).

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #39 Dreams

My favorite dreams are about flight.  I don’t often dream of flying, but when I do, it is really enjoyable.

In this scene, I am imagining a young girl falling asleep while reading a book about fairies.  She is dreaming that she is the fairy queen, taking flight on a flower chariot drawn by butterfiies.

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #74 Window

I did not have a particular story in mind for this theme.  I really like the graphics of Rian Design, and wanted to use them:

Rian Design has some really neat graphics for sale as well as for free – it’s worth checking out.  Here are the credits:

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #31 Flowers

I love love love  flowers!  I saw a bunch of pink tulips at the store, and bought it.  Tulips bring back many fond memories.  DH and I met in graduate school in the Netherlands.  We used to go to market every week and buy fresh flowers.  Growing up in Southern California, I missed the sunshine back then.  The flowers always brought a ray of light into my flat:

We even went to Keukenhof.  Here are some old photos that I took.   What great times we had back then!

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #45 Animal

I came across an amazing artist; Daniel Lee.  His work is unique, thought provoking, and a little bit disturbing – I love it!  Anyway, I wanted to try something like his art, but failed miserably:

I took a photo of Marilyn and superimposed it with  the face of a very beautiful white cat.  It looks more like a mask.  One day, I hope to improve my digital manipulation skills to do this job correctly.  If you step back far enough, and squint your eyes ( a lot), it looks much better :-).  Here are the credits:

Digital Whisper 100 Themes Challenge #38 Abandoned

I keep going back to my childhood memories of stories told to me.  There was a princess from the moon named Kaguya Hime who was naughty and wreaking havoc in the heavens. Her celestial parents decide to abandon/banish her from the heavens.  She is sent to earth where a childless elderly woodcutter and his wife find her inside a glowing bamboo tree:

The little family live happily until the girl reaches womanhood. She is then summoned back to her home in the heavens… if you are curious, you can find out more at Kaguya Hime Story.  And here are the credits:
