Project Wildlife

Aside from being a full time student, dear daughter volunteers at the San Diego Humane Society.  Project Wildlife was offering a Paint Your Favorite Animal class, so dear daughter and I decided to participate.  It was a 3 hour class, and we were to specify our animal of choice, or send them a photo. I chose a flamingo, and dear daughter chose a falcon – I think.  Here is my finished painting.  The instructor encouraged us to take photos of our progress.  Always a fun day to drive down to SD and visit with dear daughter 🙂

And here we are, posing with our work 🙂

Frida Kahlo Tile

Experimenting with painting on tile. I just doodled Frida Kahlo and painted her on tile, which I found to be very awkward.  It’s very different from painting on canvas. And, you never know how it will turn out until it’s been fired. Despite it all, I think she came out kinda cute 🙂

My Latest Endeavor

Here is my latest painting.  I painted the canvas with black gesso, drew the outline with white chalk, and painted the flowers in my favorite color – pink! 🙂

Rose Painting

My friend Terrie and I recently took a rose painting class with artist Christy Repasy.  We headed down to Fallbrook, and spent a day in her studio having fun and learning how to paint roses in Christy’s style – Victorian/Shabby Chic (my rose is third from left).

Still Life

Finally finished painting my Still Life.  I am really starting to enjoy painting.  I find myself looking at things with a different perspective. Always thinking how it would translate on to canvas.  As always, my mind races, and is way ahead of my skill level.  Oh well, as they say, practice, practice, practice…
