Zentangle Challenge #34 “Opposites Attract”

Guest Zentangle instructor Christina, is back with another challenge.  This week she gave us the option of starting with lines and filling in with curves, or starting with curves and filling in with lines.  I chose the first option:This was a fun challenge. If time permits, I think I will do the other option this week.

August Garden 2011

It has been hot around here, but I really cannot complain considering the triple digit temperatures the rest of the country is suffering.  My garden is flourishing without much assistance. My mode of gardening seems to be plant, water, and you’re on your own – only the hardy survive.  And the tomatoes are hardy:

I planted four different varieties.  Homegrown tomatoes are the best!

Drawing Lab 2011: Rorschach Ink Blot

For this week, our assignment was to drip paint on card stock, use a palette knife to swish it around, let dry, then outline what we saw – a take on the Rorschach Ink Blot Test,  a method of psychological evaluation:

Well, after moving it this way and that, I saw a friendly, clawed, one-legged, winged fantasy creature – what does that say about me? 🙂

Zentangle Challenge #33 “Pendriss”

The Diva is back, and has challenged us with a new tangle, “Pendriss”.  It felt a bit awkward to draw, so I kept it simple:

Template Challenge “My Girls”

I’ve never tried a template challenge, so when I saw one at After Five Designs, I decided to have a go.  And here is my layout:

These are photos of my dear daughter, and cute/crazy tiny toy poodle girl :-).

“Cup Of Bead Soup” Featured Artist For August!

I have the honor of being the “Cup Of Bead Soup Artist” for the month of August over at Lori Andersons Pretty Things Blog.  If you don’t know Lori already, she is a very talented jewelry designer, and articulate blogger.  Lori also hosts the semi-annual Bead Soup Blog Party.  In fact, sign ups start today. If you’re into jewelry making, or want to try, go check it out at Lori’s blog.  Anyway, back to Cup Of Bead Soup.  In a nut shell, I send Lori beads that I create, and in turn, Lori makes and shares her jewelry making techniques using my beads during the month of August. Doesn’t that sound like fun! And here are the beads I sent her:

I included my favorite beads; sculpted roses, encased florals, hollow beads, and my current obsession, vessels.  I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.  Check in with Lori from time to time this month to see what she creates!

“Catch A Wave” Quick Page Freebie

Created By Jill Scraps has just released a new kit called “Catch A Wave” – another great summer/beach themed kit:

Here is a layout I made with the kit:

The photos are from our last trip to the beach; some random sights, and people that happen to be in the view of my camera.  I also left room on the layout for journaling.  And here is the Freebie Quick Page to download:
