Blythe Physical Challenge #75 “Blythe Loves MTV”

I missed the last Blythe Physical Challenge, so I decided to make an effort to do the current one.  The theme is “Blythe Loves MTV”. We were to pick an MTV video and depict Blythe in it in public.  It’s been forever since I watched an MTV video.  The one that came to mind first was “Mr. Roboto”, the song written by Dennis DeYoung of the band Styx, and recorded on the album Kilroy Was Here.  I am giving away my age 😉

Here is the link to the video, if anyone is interested:

And here is my rendition for the challenge.  Pinkie is getting ready for her “Mr. Roboto” performance at our local Bowl.  The woman in the background kindly blessed us and wished us a nice day:

Prom 2013!

Well, DD’s last Prom went wonderfully. After the usual mini-dramas and such, DD and her friends went off to their last Senior Prom… bittersweet, but nice.

Spring Doll Challenge!

At the beginning of the year, I had the best intentions to make one doll every month – a personal challenge to myself.  So far, I have yet to make a single doll, and it’s already April… Well, the other day, I came across Wendy of Ravenwood Whimzies.   Wendy is hosting a Spring Doll Challenge. It’s a no pressure challenge.  Wendy provides the pattern on her blog, and we make dolls from it – simple! So, if you are interested in joining, hop on over to her blog.

I used to make all kinds of dolls.  Most live in the homes of my family and friends now.  Here are a few that I have around the house that I took photos of.  The first is my Izannah Walker doll that is still “in progress”

April 2013 Garden Part 2

I know I blogged about my garden already this month. But, after my gardener did his MAJOR clean up of our front/back yard and groves, I was inspired to plant some flowers in the front garden.  I planted gerbera daisies, gazanias, tea tree plant, calla lilies, and a daisy bush. Some areas of the garden, it is a constant battle with the gophers and raccoons.  Hopefully, some of these flowers will take and proliferate.  Every year, I find myself getting slower and slower in the garden. And when the sun breaks out, I’m pretty much done – it is already getting kind of hot around here.

I’ve included this photo of my Easter decorations. Sometimes, I stop in my tracks, get distracted by something else, and put off what was at task. They are gathered on my dining table. Here they are, chatting and partying before I get around to putting them away in boxes for storage until next year:

Wool Felt & Craft Projects!

Woohoo! My order of wool felt finally arrived! Now, I can make all the felt projects I have been dreaming of.  Some are new, and others, I have had planned to make for a very long time.

Felt1

Elizabeth, over at Creative Breathing has the most adorable characters! She not only shares her patterns, but has a very fun way of telling stories.  She has so many wonderful projects, I’m not sure which I’ll start with:

Felt2

Holly, over at Cotton Pickin’ Fun has the cutest characters too! This has got to be the cutest George Washington I have ever seen.  Holly is also very generous and shares her patterns  – I think if I start him now, I may have him done by the 4th of July 🙂

Felt2a

Here is a book that I have owned for quite some time,  Felt Wee Folk by Sally Mavor.  I had the best intentions to make some fairies.  I even bought acorn caps for hats on-line from the East Coast! Now, I ‘m  going to break out the supplies and finally make them.

Felt3

And finally, some really sweet felt dolls from Noialand.  I will make at least one of these girls:

Felt4

These are but a few of the projects I have in mind.  My shelves are full of books with lots of ideas…

Triton Day!

Yay!!! DD finally chose her school.  We spent a day this weekend at UCSD.  The morning started early with Breakfast with the Dean, followed by several seminars, and a tour around campus.  She loves it, and we are very happy for her.  The campus is vast and hilly – I was exhausted by the end of the day.  I don’t think she will have a problem with the Freshman 15 :).  This is her home for the next four years (hopefully…  we can’t afford a super-senior on our hands).  Of course I forgot my camera, so I had to make due with my iphone:

I don’t get the house on top of the building… I guess engineers do these things, just because they can?

April 2013 Garden

Everything is in bloom! We are surrounded by the wonderful fragrance of orange blossoms.  The bees are buzzing, and dear younger son home for spring break is on claritin.  The weather is just perfect – sunny and fresh!

Oh, wonderful orange blossoms!

Road Trip!

We finally managed to visit dear older son this last weekend.  The drive to Arizona was uneventful – DH drove all the way, very relaxed, and nice.  Here are some photos of the terrain –  and I thought we lived in the desert:

Here I am! with my two adorable boys – so happy to be together 🙂

And I had to add this photo: 20 years ago – so happy to be together then too…

Ok, back to the trip…  Gravel seems to be a big landscape feature around here:

Finally, some color… Downtown Tucson. We had a wonderful brunch at a French cafe.  Oh, and I had to take this photo of the street – I found it very interesting that we were required to park backwards.  I think it was for the safety of the bikers or something.  I’m thinking around where we live, you can get a ticket for parking backwards?

Here is DD, at a stop on the way back – she is giving me the “look” for trying to take her photo:

We stopped at Quartzite on the way home to refuel.  Since we were making good time, we decided to check out this bookstore… Word of warning, the proprietor works in the buff! I was a bit thrown off, but pretended like it was all normal :). Funny thing, he is in the buff, but all the books are wrapped in plastic so you can’t peruse them – must be to protect them from the desert dust. Tucson2013_6

And here is a funny road sign – I had to borrow this photo from the web. DH seemed to think he was back on a German Autobahn or something.  Before I could get my camera ready, we had already passed the sign:
